Astronomers have detected variable clouds of water beyond the solar system. WISE 0855 has a temperature of about 265 K and an atmosphere similar to Jupiter.
Astronomers have confirmed for the first time the presence of variable water clouds on a celestial body other than Earth. Observations with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have revealed atmospheric phenomena occurring beyond the boundaries of our Solar System. The study, published in the latest issue of The Astrophysical Journal, focused on WISE 0855, the coldest known brown dwarf, located just 7.5 light-years away.
At 7.4 light-years from the Sun, about 70 billion kilometers, an object floats with an effective temperature of about 265 kelvin, that is, about 8 degrees below zero. It is the cold of a freezing morning in January in the peninsular interior, but on a star scale: we talk about something with a similar size [...]
For 11 hours Webb pointed at the coldest brunette dwarf you know and saw the clouds of water change thickness, at 7.5 light years.L'articolo There are Water Clouds that change to 7.5 light years from Earth is taken from Future Next.
