Demonstrators to Hold 'No Kings' Protest Against Trump in Richmond This Weekend
Organizers expect over 100,000 participants nationwide to protest Trump’s policies on democracy, First Amendment rights, immigration, and presidential overreach.
- Demonstrators nationwide plan Saturday rallies against President Donald Trump, with the Washington, D.C., protest set for Oct. 18 at Pennsylvania Avenue NW and 3rd Street NW near the U.S. Capitol from noon to 3 p.m.
- Organizers say the protests defend democracy and First Amendment rights, while Ezra Levin, co-executive director of Indivisible, called them a response to Trump’s crackdown on these freedoms.
- More than 100,000 people are expected as organizers plan about 150 volunteer marshals and a march from Jefferson Drive by the Smithsonian Metro station to the National Archives.
- Authorities posted Emergency No Parking and road closures from 4:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., crews installed plastic barriers and bike racks Friday, and DC Police will post traffic updates on X.
