No-fault evictions to be banned in ‘once-in-a-generation’ reforms
After years of promising to legislate to protect renters, the government has finally introduced a bill that will allow tenants to challenge poor landlords without losing their homes. The Renters’ Reform Bill will not only end no-fault evictions, it will end bans by landlords on tenants who claim benefits. Renters will also be given a legal right to keep pets, but landlords will get greater powers to evict anti-social tenants.

The government has announced plans to abolish so-called “no-fault evictions” as part of its overhaul of housing laws.
