"No brainer" – AO brings musicMagpie smartphone trade in to 1,300 Timpson stores across UK
The trade-in service offers instant cash for old smartphones at 1,300 Timpson stores, unlocking an estimated £10 billion in unused device value across the UK.
- After a four-month trial, the service rolled out in more than 1,300 Timpson stores, letting UK customers hand over phones in-store for assessment and receive funds within minutes.
- AO World, which acquired Music Magpie in December 2024, enabled a partnership that Music Magpie says lets customers trade in old smartphones across Timpson's 1,300 stores nationwide.
- A recent poll of 2,000 adults at the end of November last year found that almost 73% have at least one unused smartphone at home, with an average trade-in value of around £250.
- By combining Music Magpie's refurbishment expertise with Timpson's nationwide network, the trade-in service joins shoe repair, key cutting and dry cleaning to help customers unlock value immediately.
- AO says the move makes trading old tech a simple choice, with John Roberts calling it a consumer `no-brainer` that offers cash in minutes at over 1,300 Timpson stores.
