Three-Star Quarterback Will Wood Commits to Penn State Football
Wood chose Penn State after visiting Boston College, citing a strong offensive fit and early enrollment plans.
On Friday, Xaverian Brothers High School quarterback Will Wood announced his commitment to Penn State University. The Class of 2027 prospect became the 18th player to join head coach Matt Campbell's recruiting class.
Penn State's offensive staff visited Wood at his home last week, accelerating his recruitment timeline. While the junior also considered Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien's Eagles, Wood felt the Nittany Lions offered a superior fit.
Xaverian coach Al Fornaro praised Wood's character, saying, "He's a great young man, and he's a loyal person." Wood threw for 42 touchdowns with just one interception during his high school career.
His pledge provides a significant recruiting win for Campbell, whose 2027 class ranks sixth nationally. Wood confirmed Thursday he intends to enroll early next year, filling a critical position for the Nittany Lions.
The three-star recruit joins a program preparing for quarterback turnover in 2027. Wood's commitment follows Penn State's pursuit of other top prospects, solidifying the position as Campbell builds his first Nittany Lions roster.
