Bulgaria has the lowest results in the European Union at the international PISA 2025, the OECD assessment that measures the basic skills of pupils in science, reading and mathematics. The new data shows that the performance of Bulgarian pupils is even lower than that of Romania, marking a significant decline from the previous edition. Bulgaria, as well as Romania, is much below the European average at the indicators pursued.

Bulgarian 15-year-old students are showing their weakest results in reading and mathematics since our country participated in the international PISA study. 58% of them do not reach the basic level in reading, 57% are below the minimum level in mathematics, and 47% do not cover the basic level in natural sciences.
Not only Bulgaria, but also most OECD countries have lower results in the international PISA 2025 study.
