Terra Industries raised $11.8 million to expand autonomous drones and security systems protecting $11 billion in critical infrastructure amid rising militant threats.
- On Monday, Abuja-based Terra Industries said it raised 11.8 million in a seed round led by 8VC and announced its emergence from stealth.
- Rising insecurity in Mali to Nigeria has prompted Terra to expand manufacturing and support cross-border deployments as militant groups linked to Islamic State and al-Qaeda increase activity, while Africa holds more than 30% of global critical mineral reserves.
- Its ArtemisOS platform powers autonomous drones, sentry towers, and unmanned ground vehicles at its Abuja facility, protecting assets valued at about $11 billion, and generating over $2.5 million in revenue.
- Using the new capital, Terra will expand manufacturing in Africa, open software offices in San Francisco and London, and grow its AI team to support cross-border security deployments.
- Led by Joe Lonsdale, the investment round included Lux Capital, African investors and angel Meyer Malka, while founders Nathan Nwachuku, 22, and Maxwell Maduka, 24, built a team with 40% ex-Nigerian military engineers and advisor Vice Air Marshal Ayo Jolasinmi.
