- Citing "official negligence, abuse, dereliction of duty," President Bola Tinubu ordered a "full and transparent investigation" on Friday, while authorities suspended 20 NSCDC officers and their commander involved in the detention.
- News of the deaths sparked violent protests in Minna, where families of the deceased now demand justice and have warned they will continue protesting if the government fails to take decisive action.
- Justice Muhammad S.A. Muhammad will chair the commission, which has four weeks to submit findings on the legality of arrests and detention conditions, though it excludes disciplinary measures against NSCDC personnel.
