Nicolas Sarkozy, having appealed his sentence from the trial, and his imprisonment from yesterday through his lawyers, could be retrieved on appeal in the spring of 2026.
Nicolas Sarkozy has become the first French president to be imprisoned. He will be held in the VIP wing of La Sante prison in Paris. He will serve his sentence in a single cell with a bed, kitchenette, and desk. He will have to pay extra for a television and refrigerator. The former president will have access to the library and exercise room.
