NFT Trading Platform OpenSea Launches Upgraded OS2 Platform, Says SEA Airdrop to Come Later

OpenSea launched its upgraded OS2 platform on May 29, 2025, ending the beta phase and expanding its NFT marketplace across 19 blockchains.
The launch follows a year-long platform rebuild and team downsizing aimed at shifting OpenSea beyond NFTs into broader cross-chain token trading.

OpenSea CMO Adam Hollander stated that the platform has long supported the concept of having all onchain assets accessible and tradable within a single ecosystem, and he observed that while casual users have moved on, dedicated participants remain active.
The OS2 upgrade prepares for the forthcoming SEA token launch, which the OpenSea Foundation will issue only after establishing core utility, while no release date has been set.
