NFL MVP Matthew Stafford Signs 1-Year Contract Extension with Rams Through 2027
On Thursday, reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Rams, securing his services through the 2027 season.
Coming off an MVP campaign with a career-high 46 touchdowns, Stafford has shifted past his previous year-to-year mentality about his future with the franchise.
The deal provides $55 million for the upcoming season with potential to reach $60 million through incentives, allowing Stafford to earn up to $105 million over two seasons.
Despite the team drafting Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson last month, head coach Sean McVay reaffirmed commitment, stating, "It is Matthew's football team."
The 38-year-old quarterback enters his 18th season with 64,516 career passing yards, positioning himself for another Super Bowl run at the Rams' home SoFi Stadium.
