The new mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, took office on New Year’s Day with a speech in which he clearly claimed the program for which he was elected. “I have been told to use this opportunity to encourage the people of New York to ask little and wait even less,” he proclaimed. “I am not going to do it. From today, we will rule with breadth and audacity. We will not always succeed, but no one will be able to tell us that we have not tried.”
