$30 Minimum Wage Proposal Rattles Small Businesses
“A proposal to raise the minimum wage in New York City to $30 an hour is drawing cheers from working-class New Yorkers struggling to afford the city and sending chills through a business community confronting rising costs on other fronts,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
New York City is pushing for a radical bill to raise the minimum wage to $30 per hour. According to AP and Fox on the 12th (local time), New York City Councilwoman Sandra Nurse officially submitted a bill to the city council the previous day containing unconventional provisions to nearly double the current minimum wage of $17 per hour to $30.
