CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Newly elected Justices James W. “Bill” Flanigan and H.L. Kirkpatrick have taken their oaths of office with the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia following certification of the May 2026 election results.

Flanigan takes oath of office, joins High Court

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — New State Supreme Court Justice Bill Flanigan took the oath of office Thursday after his victory in the May election. Flanigan, a now former member of the House of Delegates, was sworn-in by Justice Charles Trump. The results of the election were certified Wednesday after certification in all 55 counties.
