New TV series announced as Richard Hammond takes control of classic car company
The new season follows financial strain at The Smallest Cog and features a new cast member as Hammond says there have been “a lot of changes lately.”
The sixth season of Richard Hammond's Workshop premieres on Tuesday, October 27, on Discovery+ and Quest TV, chronicling the real-life operational struggles of the Hereford-based garage, The Smallest Cog.
Earlier this year, the workshop struggled with debts of about £700,000, prompting Hammond to inject nearly £600,000 of his own funds into the garage venture to stabilize operations.
Documents filed with Companies House in December 2025 confirm Hammond holds 75 per cent of shares and voting rights, while business partner Neil Greenhouse quit citing frustration with TV filming deadlines.
Hammond claims the business is finally succeeding after restructuring, introducing new cast member Roy, of whom he said, "His job is to take us into a big, bold, bright new future."
In the latest trailer, Hammond admits there have been "a lot of changes lately," as the workshop aims to produce "wonderful work on beautiful cars" despite operational disruptions.
