New Sales Tax to Take Effect Thursday

A new sales tax to support the Livingston County 911 dispatch center officially went into effect on Jan. 1. Voters approved the tax last year as a way to help fund operations and improve emergency response services in the county. The measure imposes an additional 3/8-cent sales tax, with revenue dedicated to 911 dispatch and related public safety needs.
