Bellevue school district says threats to federal funding led to transgender policy changes
Bellevue's superintendent cited threats to federal funding as a factor in changes to the district’s guidelines on which bathrooms transgender students should use and their participation in sports.

At Monday night's school board meeting, some parents and community members asked if the board revised the changes because of pressure from the Trump administration. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Rippe said there are multiple reasons for the changes and federal funding is part of it."$10 million is what we get in federal funding. And that does mean a lot to this school district. Speaking personally, we cannot afford to lose $10 million," he said.
