New Homeowner Finds Body in House Shortly After Buying Property at Auction, Police Say
An elderly woman was found deceased after a new owner noticed a strong odor in a recently purchased auction home, police said no threat to public exists.
- On Oct. 29, a man who purchased the home at auction entered the 17000 block of Planters Row, Addison, Texas, noticed a strong odor, and called police who found Pauline Williams, 69, deceased inside.
- The home had gone into foreclosure before the auction and was sold at a Dallas County auction on October 28, with Pauline Williams, 69, listed as the owner in default.
- When officers arrived, they entered and located the body on the living-room carpet just feet from the front door, and the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office took custody to determine how and how long ago she died.
- Police say there is no ongoing threat and investigators are searching for next of kin, asking anyone with information to contact the Addison Police Department at 972-450-7100.
- Neighbors at the Homes of Addison Place said they mourned and regretted not checking on Williams, with Gary McIntyre saying `Very regrettable that I and my neighbors didn't check on her`; the Homes of Addison Place HOA Board asked for privacy in an HOA letter.
