New High-Speed Train Service Links Antwerp, Brussels Airport and Leuven with Cologne
The route restores Brussels Airport to the high-speed network and gives Antwerp and Leuven their first permanent direct link to Germany, officials said.
- The first ICE train service in a decade arrived at Brussels Airport on Monday morning, reconnecting the hub to the high-speed rail network for the first time since 2015.
- Deutsche Bahn partnered with Belgian rail company NMBS to launch this service, marking the second ICE route between Germany and Belgium to expand high-speed connectivity.
- The trains stop in Leuven, Brussels Airport, and Antwerp, carrying over 400 passengers and completing the journey from Antwerp to Cologne in approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes.
- Passengers can now combine train and flight tickets through Brussels Airlines, providing Antwerp and Leuven with their first permanent direct high-speed rail link to Germany.
- While Eight ICE services continue terminating at Brussels South, this route supplements the network and establishes a new gateway for regional passengers to access German destinations.
