New Hibernian Boss Marink Reedijk Suffers Defeat Against Dundee United
Dundee United earned their first home league win as Hibs failed to create chances and finished with 10 men after Jacob Devaney’s red card.
Marink Reedijk's debut as Hibs manager ended in disappointment on Saturday when Dundee United defeated his side 1-0 at Tannadice, with Daniel Bennie scoring the decisive goal in the 35th minute.
Reedijk expressed frustration that his squad failed to replicate training ground progress before 2,500 traveling fans from Edinburgh, admitting he struggled to see evidence of the work done during his two weeks at the helm.
Hibs finished with 10 men after substitute Jacob Devaney was sent off for a foul on Neil Farrugia late in the match; Referee Don Robertson initially awarded a penalty but VAR correctly determined the challenge occurred outside the box.
The result leaves Hibs tenth in the Scottish Premiership table, while Dundee United climbed to fifth, with Terrors boss Jim Goodwin praising his team's performance and calling the first home league win "an important factor."
Despite Hibs' lowly league position, former Scotland international James McFadden believes the team "won't be in trouble come the end of the season," noting that transitioning to a 4-2-3-1 formation requires time for players to adapt.
