Leafs’ Matthews, Stars’ Oettinger, Rangers’ Lafreniere NHL’s Three Stars of Week
Matthews led the league with nine points, while Oettinger allowed one goal on 60 shots and Lafreniere scored five goals.
On Monday, the NHL named Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews, Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger, and New York Rangers left-winger Alexis Lafreniere as the league's three stars of the week.
Matthews led the league with nine points across three games, including two four-point performances, with a two-goal, two-assist showing in a 6-3 win over Colorado on Saturday marking his 19th career four-point game.
Last Tuesday, in a 5-4 comeback victory against Nashville, Matthews scored the overtime winner, his 15th career overtime goal and second all-time on the Maple Leafs list.
Lafreniere paced the NHL with five goals throughout the week, adding two assists to earn recognition alongside Matthews and Oettinger for their standout performances.
Oettinger maintained a 2-0-1 record, allowing just one goal on 60 shots, with two shutout victories against San Jose and Buffalo before a 2-1 shootout loss on Saturday.
