Panthers sign forward Owen O’Farrell for 2026-27 season
The Port Moody Panthers announced today that the team has signed 2008-born forward Owen O’Farrell for the 2026-27 Pacific Junior Hockey League season. O’Farrell spent the last two seasons with the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association U18 A1 Tier 1 team. He also played for the Panthers in the Spring 2026 Fraser Valley Super League season and put up four goals and two assists in nine games. “I’m excited to play for Port Moody because I’ve heard so many good things about the organization in how they treat their players and give young players like me opportunities,” said O’Farrell. “I’ve also really enjoyed playing for the spring team this season and meeting all the coaches and players.” The forward’s playing history with Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey dates back several seasons, including appearances with both the U18 A1 and U18 A2 teams during the 2023-24 season. “My goals for this season are to be more physical, better defensively, and work on a quick transition with the puck. I’d like to also work on being able to get up to my top speed within a few strides,” noted O’Farrell. Prior to advancing to the U18 level, O’Farrell developed in the Ridge Meadows system through U15, playing for the Ridge Meadows MHA U15 A1 and U15 A2 teams in 2022-23, following time with the U15 A2 and U15 A3 teams in 2021-22. “If I had to describe my game, I would say that I have a good vision of the ice and I’m able to anticipate what other players are going to do with offensive capabilities,” explained O’Farrell. “I’m a playmaker and I always think pass first while still having a good scoring touch. I’m a fast forward that can use my speed to get past defenders.” O’Farrell is the fourth newly announced recruit signed by the Panthers for the 2026-27 PJHL season, joining forward Logan Cyr, and defenders David Zhang and Cameron Chan.
