King's Coat of Arms to Feature on New UK Passports
The new British passport will include updated images of natural landscapes and advanced anti-forgery technology, making it the most secure passport ever produced.
- From December, King Charles III's coat of arms will appear on the front of all new passports, the Home Office said.
- The redesign is the first wholly new passport design since 2020, with passports issued in King Charles III's name since 2023 while the late Queen's coat of arms remained on the cover and royal insignia appeared on stamps, coins and banknotes.
- Inside pages display natural landscapes from the four nations, including Ben Nevis, the Lake District, Three Cliffs Bay and the Giant's Causeway, updated in the first redesign since 2020.
- The Home Office says the redesign includes the latest anti-forgery technology with new holographic and translucent features, calling it the `most secure passport ever produced`.
- Migration and citizenship minister Mike Tapp said the redesign marks `a new era in the history of the British passport` and urged travellers to check passport validity and renew early; by convention, the King does not have a passport.
