New Digital Infrastructure Campus to Be Built at Hawesville - Century Aluminum (NASDAQ:CENX), TeraWulf (NASDAQ:WULF)

TeraWulf's acquisition adds 1.5 gigawatts of capacity, more than doubling its footprint to 2.8 GW to meet AI and high-performance computing demand, the company said.

  • On Feb. 02, 2026 Century Aluminum Company announced the sale of its Hawesville, Kentucky site to TeraWulf Inc., which will redevelop it into a digital infrastructure campus for AI workloads.
  • With AI firms hungry for capacity, TeraWulf plans to pair computing with added power generation and pursue net-positive regional grid impact to support reliability.
  • At the Hawesville property, over 250 buildable acres offer immediate access to 480 megawatts via an on-site substation, while the Morgantown Generating Station, Morgantown, Maryland, is a 210 MW facility expandable to 1 GW with 500 MW possible first-phase compute.
  • The deal is expected to bring local jobs and revenue as Century will retain a minority stake, and TeraWulf shares rose 11% in pre-market trading.
  • TeraWulf, now across five sites, adds about 1.5 GW and more than doubles its footprint to 2.8 GW, supporting a 250–500 MW annual capacity target.
