A sprawling investigation into an alleged digital forgery ring that used cloned electronic signatures to infiltrate Turkey’s e-government systems has led to the arrest of 37 suspects, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Sunday.
The General Directorate of Security denied allegations that a person obtained the identity of a narcotics chief commissioner with a forged e-signature in the investigation into fake diplomas.
On August 9, 2024, USOM, affiliated with the BTK, launched an operation against the fake e-signature gang after unauthorized access was detected at Gazi University. The investigation revealed that the fake e-signature had been obtained from a certificate provider in Adana using a fake photograph and that numerous fake diplomas had been issued.
