New Commemoration Mark for Sinti and Roma in Hamburg
A new memorial to the genocide of Sinti and Roma during the Nazi period was opened in Hamburg on Friday. The memorial site in Überseequartier in Hafencity commemorates, among other things, the fate of about 1,000 Sinti and Roma from Hamburg and Northern Germany arrested on May 16, 1940, who were deported from there to forced labour camps.
