The European Parliament has supported the European Commission's proposal to amend the Climate Law in order to consolidate an intermediate target of reducing polluting emissions by 90 per cent by 2040, compared to the 1990 registries, but has also supported flexibility measures to allow countries to relax their commitment to the purchase of international credits to cover up to 5 per cent of that target.
