Leading cardiology organizations have agreed for the first time on a single, global definition of heart attack, a change that is expected to dramatically improve the diagnosis and treatment of millions of women. The historic agreement, announced at the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology, upgrades forms of heart attack that occur more often in women and introduces a lower diagnostic troponin threshold for them.
