Lepas L6 Confirmed for Australia as Another Mid-Size SUV From Chery, This Time with Electric Power
Chery Group says Lepas will enter the Australian market with a fully electric L6, as it targets family buyers in the mid-size SUV segment.
- The Chery Group will introduce its new Lepas brand to Australia in the fourth quarter of 2026, starting with the L6 mid-size electric SUV.
- Chery says the name Lepas is a portmanteau of "leopard" and "passion," with LED headlights designed to resemble a leopard's eye.
- The L6 offers a 450km estimated range and features a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen similar to the Jaecoo J5, per Lepas Australia chief operating officer Lucas Harris.
- Entering the competitive mid-size SUV segment, the L6 will challenge the BYD Atto 3, Zeekr 7X, Geely EX5, and Mazda CX-5, with pricing expected to exceed $36,990.
- Further growth is planned through 2027, with Lepas preparing to introduce the L4 small electric SUV and L8 plug-in hybrid; the Chery Group also intends to bring iCaur, Freelander, and Jetour to Australia.
