- On Thursday, Netflix announced a new Japanese live-action series titled Parasyte: Tamiya, scheduled to stream globally in 2027 and starring actress Shioli Kutsuna as the titular parasite, Ryoko Tamiya.
- Director Yeon Sang-ho returns to lead the creative team, having developed the story and co-written scripts with Ryu Yong-jae, adapting Hitoshi Iwaaki's original Parasyte manga that previously inspired an anime and film franchise.
- The story follows Ryoko Tamiya, a parasite who begins questioning whether her species and humans can coexist, a role Kutsuna described as "the most challenging role I have ever played in my acting career."
- Produced by Wowpoint and directed by filmmakers Kensaku Kakimoto and Kazuhiro Nakagawa, the series is currently in post-production, marking another collaboration between Netflix and Yeon on hit titles.
