Netflix Adapting Hannah Grace’s Icebreaker Romance Book, With Alex Cooper as Producer
The adaptation follows a hockey romance that spent 70 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and sold nearly 5 million copies worldwide.
On Monday, Netflix announced a series adaptation of Hannah Grace's best-selling novel 'Icebreaker' at the Banff World Media Festival, with Alex Cooper producing via Unwell Productions.
Netflix's move follows the rising popularity of hockey-themed romances on streaming platforms, including recent successes like 'Heated Rivalry' and 'Off Campus.'
The novel, which has spent 70 consecutive weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, has sold nearly 5 million copies since its 2022 release and centers on figure skater Anastasia Allen and hockey player Nate Hawkins.
Showrunner Amanda Lasher and writer Jade Bartlett are attached to lead the adaptation, described as a 'sex on ice' sports romance centered on competitive figure skating and hockey rivalry.
This series continues Netflix's successful strategy of adapting popular novels like 'Bridgerton' and 'The Queen's Gambit,' positioning the platform for another major hit in contemporary romance.
