A 10-member expert team from the Gandhinagar-based National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) departed for Nepal on Saturday evening to assist authorities in identifying victims of the devastating floods through DNA matching. So far, 233 bodies have been recovered from the flooded river in Chitwan, Nepal, of which only four have been identified. The remaining 229 unidentified bodies will be buried en masse at Devghat starting today. Before burial, each body will receive a DNA sample and a unique code, allowing for identification if a family claims them in the future.
