- Last week, a state judge dismissed the Common Cause lawsuit that sought to block release of voter information as the Justice Department began last year pushing states and sued at least 23 states and the District of Columbia.

- Evnen said he is giving the data so the Justice Department can assess Nebraska’s compliance with federal voting laws, while Democratic officials say the request violates privacy laws.
- The legal fight follows an FBI raid in Georgia's Fulton County and earlier this week a federal judge in Michigan rejected the department's effort to obtain voter rolls.
