LOUISA COUNTY, IOWA, JUN 17 – Authorities removed 88 children amid an ongoing child abuse and human trafficking investigation at a church camp linked to the Kingdom Ministry of Rehabilitation and Recreation.
- The Louisa County Sheriff's Office took 88 children into protective custody on June 12-13 at the Shekinah Glory Camp and Kingdom Ministry properties in Iowa.
- The operation was launched following reports of child abuse and neglect at a religious camp operated by a ministry established in 2018 focused on rehabilitation and recreational programs.
- Authorities worked alongside Iowa’s child protection agency, state investigators, and local law enforcement in Columbus Junction to carry out search warrants and ensure the children’s safety.
- Eighty-Eight children were relocated from the camp to the Wapello Methodist Church where they were connected with child protective services and then placed with their families, state health and human services, or temporary foster homes to maintain their safety until they could be reunited with their guardians.
- The investigation remains ongoing with no arrests reported, while the ministry continues its mission to support individuals recovering from addiction and providing spiritual care.
