NDLEA arrests Chinese grandma with large consignment of illicit drugs
NDLEA said the suspect arrived from Thailand via Dubai and allegedly tried to smuggle 31 kilograms of Canadian Loud into Nigeria.
- On May 17, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency operatives arrested Ting Hung Kiong, a 63-year-old Chinese woman, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport , Lagos, for allegedly attempting to smuggle 31 kilograms of Canadian Loud into Nigeria.
- Following this arrest, officers intercepted a massive consignment of 1,825,710 tablets of Tapentadol valued at N2.19 billion at the Lagos airport import shed on Friday, May 22, after the shipment arrived from India aboard an Emirates Cargo flight.
- At Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, agents apprehended 29-year-old building engineer Babatunde Prosper Afekhide with 10,280 opioid pills, while operatives at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, arrested Onyeka Valentine Emeka for attempting to smuggle cocaine.
- Intensifying nationwide operations, agents raided a warehouse in Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti State, recovering 1,116 kilograms of skunk, while Kano State officers seized 196,000 pills of Exol-5 and Edo State operatives retrieved 489 kilograms of skunk from the Igwe community.
- NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commended personnel for their efforts and urged them to maintain operational momentum in both enforcement and public sensitisation campaigns nationwide through the agency's War Against Drug Abuse initiative.
