CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — North Carolina Emergency Management will be using FEMA funds to elevate 20 structures in the Town of Carolina Beach. According to a press release, the properties are located in a hurricane flood-prone and wind-borne debris region and are susceptible to frequent flooding. CAROLINA BEACH — Public comment is open for FEMA grant money to be used on structures being elevated in flood zones in a nearby beach town. The properties are located in nine areas, and have been flooded heavily and damaged many times throughout the years. Being they're located in high probability areas for rising waters, elevation will provide 100-year flood protection and mitigate issues. Source
