The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, presented this Thursday the name of the Social Democrat Inga Ruginienė to Parliament as a candidate to take office as Prime Minister, in the midst of a profound political crisis unleashed by the corruption scandal that forced the resignation of Gintautas Paluckas just two weeks ago. Lithuania had a government in place since then.
Nauseda put forward a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister because of the resignation of the previous Head of Government, Gintautas Paluzkas, because of growing questions about his past and business.
Gitanas Nauseda asked Seimas to fill the post of Ingu Ruginena.
