National Route 66 Centennial Kickoff Celebration announces lineup of events

Officials said the four-day celebration will take place in Springfield from April 30 to May 3, 2026, with details available at https://www.route66kickoff.com/.
Framed as a cultural commemoration, the kickoff aims to honor Route 66's centennial, with Bill Thomas, president of The Road Ahead Partnership, saying, `Launching the celebration in Springfield, the Birthplace of Route 66, reflects its origins and ability to connect people`.
Headline acts set for the kickoff include Little Big Town, Chris Janson, Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts, Gretchen Wilson, Ozark Mountain Daredevils and The Haygoods, and the concert will be hosted by John Goodman, actor, and Callie Carroll, Springfield City Councilmember.
Downtown Springfield will host ceremonies including the Queen's Gate Sculpture Dedication, the Celebrate America on Route 66 Parade, a Stars & Stripes and 66 Reception, and the lighting of the Historic Jefferson Avenue Footbridge.
