- GasBuddy reported this week that the national average price for a gallon of gas dropped below $3 on Monday, Oct. 20, while Boise and Idaho Falls remained in the mid-$3 range.
- Rising global supply helped push prices down, as increased oil production from OPEC throughout 2025 rebalanced the global oil market, GasBuddy analysis shows from over 12 million price reports.
- GasBuddy data show the national average fell 4.1 cents last week to $2.98 per gallon, down 19.3 cents from a month ago and 15.2 cents lower than last year.
- At the local level in Boise, station prices ranged from $3.25 to $3.67 per gallon, a $42 spread, with Idaho ranking seventh most expensive for fuel.
- If crude oil and fuel demand continue to cool with fall weather, Patrick De Haan projects prices could stay under $3 for much of the next few months, delivering bigger savings in the near future.
