What's it like to grow up in the shadow of the Nagasaki bomb?

"I had the opportunity to convey my mother's story," says author Kazuo Ishiguro of growing up in the shadow of the Nagasaki bomb. Now, his mother's story is being brought to the big screen.

[Kyodo News, London] On the 12th, Masao Tomonaga (81), chairman of the Nagasaki Prefecture Atomic Bomb Victims' Certificate Association, a group of atomic bomb survivors currently visiting the UK, and two others gave a lecture in London. Tomonaga, who is also a doctor, said that even now, 80 years after the atomic bombing, atomic bomb survivors "are still at risk of developing leukemia and cancer."
