Cairo: The new Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy, formally assumed his duties, Wednesday, as a successor to Ahmed Aboul Gheit, according to an official source. On 22 June last, the Council of the League of Arab States adopted my understanding as Secretary-General of the League for five years, as a successor to Abu Ghayt, whose period ended on Tuesday.
