Founder of the La Française des Jeux formation, in 1997, the former rider had always been the general manager since then. In April he will hand over the management of the team, now Groupama-FDJ, to Thierry Cornec, deputy general manager of the structure since 2024.
The Finisterian Thierry Cornec will succeed Marc Madiot at the head of the Groupama-FDJ from next year. A transfer of power that symbolizes the evolution of professional cycling, marked by the arrival of more technical profiles to positions long occupied by former riders.
Marc Madiot, one of the leading figures in French cycling, announced this Saturday that he was leaving as general manager of the Groupama-FDJ team to pass the relay to his deputy, Thierry Cornec.
Marc Madiot will no longer be, in a few weeks, the general manager of the Groupama-FDJ cycling team that he created in 1997 under the French name of the Games. The 66-year-old Mayennais remains still in the team by becoming president of the structure.
