The Zeeland town of Kapelle will get an Annie M.G. Schmidt Museum next year. The Bij Annie Thuis foundation announced on Monday that, thanks to an anonymous donor, there are enough funds to purchase the birthplace of the famous author of books such as Jip & Janneke, Abeltje, and Pluk van de Petteflet on the Kerkplein.
A museum about the writer is to be set up on the first floor, but the ground floor is also being given new life. A meeting place and lunchroom will be located there.
Kapelle will get an Annie M.G. Schmidt museum in the foreseeable future. The Bij Annie Thuis foundation is able to purchase the writer's birthplace on the Kerkplein thanks to an anonymous donor.
