The city is asking the public to avoid the 200 block of E. Second Street after two buildings that were set to be demolished collapsed overnight.

Lang 8/1/26 Two buildings collapsed in Muscatine early Saturday morning. Abandoned structures at 201 and 203 East 2nd Street collapsed just after midnight during heavy rain. The collapse was captured on video by The Coffee Belt across the street. No injuries were reported. Last month the City of Muscatine inspected 20 buildings in the affected area.
