The fire started on 5 August in Ribaute. It covered 17,000 hectares, destroyed 36 houses and caused the death of a 65-year-old woman.

After three weeks of intense struggle and 17,000 hectares of smoke, the fire that ravaged the department of Aude is officially extinguished.
Destroying 17,000 hectares in the Corbières Mountains, this fire is the largest in the Mediterranean region in half a century.
The megafire that covered 17,000 hectares had been declared "controlled" since 10 August, destroyed 36 houses and killed one.
