PSNI Launch Murder Investigation After East Belfast Break-In Death
Police say two suspects were arrested and released on bail as detectives appeal for witnesses, CCTV and doorbell footage.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has launched a murder investigation following the death of 51-year-old Nicholas Gordon, who died in hospital after an assault during a break-in at an apartment building in east Belfast earlier this week.
Detective Chief Inspector Duffie said a "number of intruders" entered the Holywood Road apartment building at approximately 4:45 am on Tuesday, May 12, and "attacked another male, before making off."
Emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene and transported Gordon to hospital, while police arrested a 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with dash-cam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from the Holywood Road area on May 12 to contact police on 101, quoting reference 224 of 12/05/26.
