The multimillionaire candidate for the Lyon city hall had dragged the independent newspaper Lyon, a partner of Mediapart, before the court for an article of 2023 on the financial and tax arrangements of an American company partly owned by the family holding company Les Aulas.
The right-wing candidate at the town hall was ordered to reimburse the court fees of journalists, who had investigated his family holding company. The outgoing mayor, Grégory Doucet, is also pursuing a magazine for defamation.
