- The project includes $142 million in federal infrastructure funding and will introduce "smarter" technology for airfield lighting and electric vehicle charging, Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria said.
- McGill University faculty lecturer John Gradek warned travelers will be "living in a construction zone for years," adding that passengers may face increased airport improvement fees.
- These upgrades coincide with federal government discussions on commercial airport privatization, with Prime Minister Mark Carney suggesting last week that Ottawa is reviewing the current ownership model.
