MRS increases fuel price by N85 per litre
MRS, NIPCO and Mobil lifted pump prices as higher crude costs pushed petrol rates to as much as N1,430 a litre, NAN reported.
- MRS filling stations in Abuja raised petrol prices by N85 per litre on Saturday, adjusting pump prices from N1,310 to N1,395 per litre following Dangote Refinery's wholesale price increase.
- Dangote Petroleum Refinery raised wholesale prices after global crude oil prices surpassed $100 per barrel, with Brent and WTI crude currently trading at $104 and $100 per barrel, respectively.
- Chinedu Ukadike, The National Publicity Secretary of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association , confirmed marketers are adjusting pump prices due to frequent wholesale changes creating uncertainty for consumers.
- Economist Aliyu Ilias warned that rising fuel costs will increase transportation and production expenses, potentially worsening inflation figures for Nigerians in coming weeks.
- Owei Lakemfa of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity urged Nigeria to strengthen regulatory frameworks to shield citizens from global oil price fluctuations.
