The Cabo Delgado region, in northern Mozambique, has been subjected for almost 10 years to the violence of armed groups, called the Shebabs. In 2019, they lent allegiance to the Islamic State Group. On the ground, the Shebabs replicate the modus operandi of all the branches of the IS in Africa. Their attacks include mass abductions of women and children.
